NASA Day Trip

What an adventure we had going to NASA – 48 international students and friendship partners spent the day, and night at NASA.

The day started off with a ride though Houston down to “Space Center Houston”.

IMG_6661 There we waited in line to take the “behind the scenes” tour of the operations of NASA.  It was a special time since mission control was getting ready for the lunch of the space shuttle in about seven hours.

We learned about the different functions in Mission Control.  This is where it all happens.  Pretty cool.

We also saw the the training building.  There they had full size high fidelity models of the space station and the shuttle.  This is where the training and practice take place.

And then off to get some pictures with the astronauts.  Everyone had a chance to talk and meet someone who has been in space.

Afterwards we heard a talk by the astronauts and they took questions form the audience.

And finally, we met some new friends from India who we took with us to spend the night.  The van was a bit full but we made it.

So, it was great fun and a long day.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible.  A special thanks to the folks at ISI.  And also to all the efforts by our transportation team that co-ordinate all the travel.
